The Team

You will be part of a Global EH&S team, providing support to the operations and security team on all EH&S related topics. As the H&S lead you will be able to connect and work with people across different geographies.

 

The Role

You will be joining the EH&S team as the Health and Safety Manager, with the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on a fast-growing business. This management position contributes to the success of my client by enabling EHS risk management including risk identification, evaluation, control, regulatory compliance, incident investigation, and post-incident management in the dynamic industry of their offices and distribution centres.

This leader is an EHS subject matter expert in the areas of Safety and Environmental in a varied portfolio of locations and can clearly articulate, develop and support the implementation of a risk-based, prevention programs. This person is responsible for managing the EMEA Sites EHS agenda based upon the AOP. This position supports the Regional Team agenda by developing and implementing programs, training, and consultation that helps each site achieve its goals. This EHS management role is to anticipate EHS issues, assure risk management processes are applied, mentor capabilities into the site teams, analyse incident data, and develop actionable solutions. Employee advocacy and protection of others delivered through a prevention strategy is this role’s primary focus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of program elements/tools/machinery to ensure compliance with all in country regulations and applicable company requirements (i.e. Chemical, Fire Safety programs)
  • Provide technical and regulatory expertise in developing EHS continuous improvement processes and determining need to follow-up activities associated with EHS incidents, agency inspections, and/or internal/external audits.
  • Support the development of the strategic EHS annual operating plans, assess site location performance in relation to the EHS vision/plan, and determine vital course corrections in order to achieve the plan
  • Conduct periodic location visits and EHS activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Operations Managers, Global Health & Safety/ Sustainability Lead, and other key Headquarter Leadership to reduce EHS risk across the organization.
  • Provide regular and detailed status and trend analysis to Leadership.
  • Develop and perform risk assessments and assist in the implementation of effective physical and/ or behavioural control measures. Recognize and verify the efficiency of in-place control measures.
  • Identify unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment use.
  • Participate in the development of leading and lagging Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that deliver outstanding EHS performance and demonstrate a high level of urgency around needed EHS paradigm culture shift change
  • Analyse key EHS data and help develop prevention plans to address process or risks gaps. Think strategically and ensure EHS Performance plans are timely, achievable, and performance-based
  • Define and analyse data trends and EHS performance to ensure that the right priorities are identified and acted upon for the organization.
  • Mentor leaders at all levels within the organization and use strong influencing skills around EHS goals/values and that a strong EHS culture ensures business efficiency targets can be met
  • Identify issues, mentor and lead site locations in the development of a corrective action plan to address root basic causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry- recognized cause analysis techniques
  • Expected travel up to 50-75% (As needed, candidate must be willing to travel between sites to ensure that the EH&S targets are met.
  • This role is hybrid by its nature; however it is expected that the one to two days per week would be spent in one of our offices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Environmental, Health and Safety
  • NEBOSH Deploma
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a comparable role as an EHS professional knowledge and experience with EHS Management systems and their deployment
  • Displays strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Understands and can articulate EHS requirements and regulations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking skills and presence in meetings and training environments
  • Demonstrates professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader
