A fine-dining gastro pub based in Surrey is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Bar Manager to join their team and help them to deliver an exceptional experience to their guests. The pub is known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere, an excellent range of craft beers, ciders, fine wines, and quality pub fare.
KEY Responsibilities
- Overall management of the bar, overseeing all aspects of service and operations to ensure a seamless experience.
- Lead a team of around five staff on shift, promoting high standards of customer service, efficiency, and cleanliness.
- Staff training and mentorship, cultivating a positive work environment that fosters teamwork and growth.
- Stock management including ordering, cellar management, and accurate stocktaking to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimise wastage.
- Maintain health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with all regulatory practices.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally and positively.
- Assist in developing and executing promotions, special events, and community outreach to enhance the pub’s engagement with locals and visitors.
Working Pattern
- 45-hour contract, with typical working days from Wednesday to Sunday.
- One weekend off per month to ensure a balanced work-life schedule.
About You
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in a bar or pub setting.
- Excellent knowledge of beverages, including beers, wines, and cocktails.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-first attitude.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings.
- Personal License is desirable but not essential.
